Relief at hand

On 1st April 2022, ARC Mr S. Biswas received a call from NAC stating an emergency. Through tracking ZC Mr S. Sarkar was found to be nearby. He was off duty at that time but immediately left for the member’s house, hearing an emergency. It was 9.20 pm then, Ms Sengupta had fallen outside the bathroom on the second floor and was unable to get up. Her husband Mr Sengupta was physically unable to help her and was immensely worried. On reaching the house Mr Sarkar found that the house had three gates out of which two were locked. Though the situation was tough, he was adept at handling it with his Army skills. Once he entered the second floor, he found Ms Sengupta on the floor, groaning and writhing in pain. He immediately picked her up and lay her on the bed and called their family doctor home. The doctor examined Ms Sengupta and suggested for an X-ray. Mr Sarkar instantly called the ambulance and took her to a nearby hospital for an X-ray. A fracture was detected, and Ms Sengupta was provided the required medication. When she felt better and comforted, she was taken home. The timely help of the ZC had relieved the Sengupta’s of their worries.

Need immediate attention… we are there!

On 26 th February 22, at 6.00 pm, ZC Mr G. Basak received a call from NAC stating that our member Mr R. Sarkar required immediate attention. MCA Mr S. Ghosh immediately started for the member’s house and reached within 7 minutes. He found the member experiencing breathlessness, he was vomiting and was feeling extremely restless. Wasting no time, he called for the ambulance and within 12 minutes they reached the nearest hospital along with the member’s elder sister. After the formalities were completed, Mr Ghosh ensured that the member was admitted and attended to by the doctors. Till the time our member was in the hospital MCAs kept visiting him, enquired about his health, and looked forward to his speedy recovery. The team constantly was in touch with the member and when he was discharged, he was brought back home safely.

A helping hand at odd instances

Our member Mr B. Guha along with his wife had planned a trip to Pune. Unsure how to tackle the luggage at his age, he asked Support Elders for an out of home assistance, on the day of his journey. MCA Mr T K Mahato was assigned the task. He accompanied the Guha couple to Shalimar station.

On the way, they were held up in a traffic jam for nearly 40 minutes, which increased their anxiousness. Mr Mahato understood the gravity of the situation and expertly guided the driver through by-lanes and got them out of the traffic and asked him to avoid crowded streets. At the station, Mr Mahato told the couple not to panic and walk at a comfortable pace, while he went ahead with their luggage. On reaching the coach, he first sanitized it for the older couple, then arranged their luggage in place. When the couple reached the coach, he helped them board the train and be seated comfortably. As the train was about to start, Mr Mahato had to run and arrange for a lock and a chain to secure their stuff underneath the berth and deboarded the train immediately, and it started. We are proud of Mr Mahato for executing the job so well.

Resolving water crisis

On 20 th March at 10.45 pm RC Mr S. Alam received a WhatsApp message from Mr T K Batyabal’s daughter stating that there was a water crisis at her father’s house which required to be resolved on an urgent basis. The regular water supply that they received through the KMC pipelines had stopped, leading to a problematic situation. Being alone in this condition, things were becoming difficult and unmanageable for her father, and his daily routine was getting hampered. She requested Support Elders to help her father in this regard.
The next day ZC Mr D. Mandal reached the KMC office at 10.00 am. He spoke to the office-in-charge, explained the situation to him, and requested for an immediate action. They sent labourers to check the water pipes. The pipeline was choked and thus resulted in this water problem. Mr Mandal stood there for three hours till the work was going on, to confirm that the pipelines were checked all through, cleaned and water flow was restored. He didn’t leave the site even once, till the work was going on. Then he checked the water inflow points of the member’s house to ensure that the problem was completely resolved.
Being convinced that there was no further water problem and after assuring Mr Batyabal that the problem had been resolved, he left for his next assignment.
